I am an American woman learning Afrikaans! I grew up near San Francisco, California and I have been through a fair amount of adventures in my life so far. All of those adventures brought me to the moment in time that introduced me to Afrikaans. Becoming fluent in Afrikaans, both verbally and written, is my goal. It has already been a lot of hard work, and I know this is only the beginning! I hope to portray my enthusiasm and dedication for this language, as I am pretty confident that an American with no actual ties to South Africa previously learning a language like Afrikaans is extremely unconventional.
